What makes your venue the Best Gastropub in New Zealand?

We’ve got an oversized outdoor area with all-day sunshine, a pint-sized playground for kids and plenty of parks for you to pull up in. After all, we are a Motel. We don’t do rooms, or overnights, but we do curated cocktails, fabulous food and superior service comes standard.

 

Describe the experience your customers have at your establishment – what is your food and beverage offering and why do people come back for more?

Customers love the sharing menu & our signature cocktails menu with a great range of Tap Beers. We are a Local Gastro bar in the Milford Community, but customers have been coming from all over Auckland to check out the Venue (including some of the best chefs).

Tell us how you showcase NZ produce / offerings? Does your menu change with the season, and how is it locally influenced? How do you accommodate allergy and dietary requirements?

We use NZ products for our food offerings & have already made changes to our menu since the summer has started. We offer gluten-free, vegan & vegetarian options on our menu & we ask the customers for their dietary requirements on our online booking system & staff ask the customers when they arrive.

 
 

What are your key points of difference and how have you managed to deliver them?

Our large outdoor area with the retractable awning outside offers a unique experience for all ages. Playground for the little ones and a palm spring vibe for the adults throughout the day. It's a unique daytime Gastro bar & the first of its kind in the Northshore area & we are lucky to have a talented team who try their best to meet every customer's expectation.

Since we cater to all ages, our customers vary from little ones to retirees & our menu & drinks selection reflect that. The sharing style menu comes out as it's ready. We have a variety of non-alcoholic & low-alcoholic options for our customers.

Please describe your commitment to sustainability

Our aim is to have less food wastage, so we place orders regularly to get fresh food & avoid food wastage. We offer boxes to our clients if they can't finish a meal so food doesn't go to waste. We do have a compost bin on site as well.

A majority of the requirements have a great energy star rating & we do not leave the lights on for certain areas if it's not required during the day.

Please describe how you create ambience.

We play a bit of tropical house to create a palm spring ambience & have DJs on Friday & Saturday for the evening sessions.
